Wildlife at Wallace Lake Lodge
Untouched Boreal Wilderness. Wild Encounters. True Northern Adventure.
Wallace Lake Lodge sits on the edge of the boreal wilderness of Atikaki Provincial Wilderness Park, a remote landscape of forests, lakes, and rivers that supports a rich variety of wildlife. Guests can enjoy wildlife and nature viewing as part of their trip — whether hiking local trails right from the lodge, boating on the lake, or exploring surrounding waterways and outpost locations.
The environment here is classic northern boreal habitat — a mix of forests, wetlands, and lakes that attract both land and aquatic species. While wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed in the wild, these are some of the animals typically found in the area around Wallace Lake.
Big Mammals
Moose
Often seen near shorelines, marsh edges, or feeding quietly in forested areas.
Black Bear
Present throughout the region and even part of the lodge’s guided hunt offerings.
Woodland Caribou
A species typical of the wider Atikaki wilderness, more elusive but deeply tied to the boreal ecosystem.
Wolves & Lynx
Rare and shy predators that inhabit the broader boreal landscape surrounding the lodge.
Other Mammals
Beaver
Commonly active in local waterways, especially at dawn and dusk near dams and lodges.
Foxes & Small Mammals
Including foxes and other fur-bearing animals that thrive in this healthy northern ecosystem.
