Northern Lights Viewing in Manitoba
Where the wilderness meets the aurora
Imagine standing on the shore of a pristine northern lake — no road noise, no city glow — just absolute silence overhead as the Northern Lights dance across the sky. At Wallace Lake Lodge & Outposts, this isn’t a once-in-a-lifetime dream — it’s a regular part of the experience.
Located deep in Manitoba’s untouched wilderness, Wallace Lake Lodge offers exceptionally dark skies — the single most important factor for viewing the aurora borealis. With virtually zero light pollution, guests often witness brighter, more vibrant displays than anywhere closer to towns or highways.
Why Wallace Lake Lodge Is Ideal for Aurora Viewing
- Remote wilderness location — far from city lights
- Northern latitude — right in the aurora viewing zone
- Open lake views — wide horizons perfect for photography
- Quiet evenings — no crowds, no distractions, just nature
Whether you’re relaxing at the main lodge or staying at one of our outposts, the night sky becomes part of the adventure.
Best Time to See the Northern Lights
While the Northern Lights are possible year-round, the prime viewing season at Wallace Lake Lodge runs from mid-August through mid-October, when nights are dark enough for aurora activity to shine.
During this time, temperatures are comfortable, and the aurora often appears early in the evening — perfect after a day of fishing or exploring the surrounding wilderness.
