Spring fishing is almost here!

With spring sloooowwwwly creeping around the corner it makes us excited for the upcoming fishing season! At this date (April 5th) we are still a little ways from having an early ice out judging by the cool temperatures in the upcoming forecast. Looks like lake levels will probably be higher than normal this spring due to the amount of snow in the bush and the spring run off. This is good news since we’ve been experiencing below average water levels in the previous years. After taking the Super cub on skis up to the camps this late winter, it looks like everything is wintering well and we can’t wait to see the places again once the ice breaks. With that is mind it is not too late to to reserve your stay in the 2019 season! We can accommodate any group size from 4- 16 guests in a fly in outpost experience or a drive in lodge setting. Just let us know what dates work for you and we can help cure that fishing bug, at any one of our awesome locations! To all the guests that are booked with us already this year, we look forward to seeing you all in the next months to come. Another year in the books!

Wow! What an memorable season 2018 was! It was great to see all the familiar faces back at lodge or outposts. For all the new guests with us this season, it was great to meet you and hope to see you again! What can we say about the fishing? Well with record numbers in quantities of fish and size I think we can consider it a pretty stellar year! Biggest Walleye this year was 31.5 Inches and biggest Northern pike stretching the tape at 49 Inches, both real beauties and many more trophy’s in and around those numbers. The water levels were all generally low this year and maybe could have been a reason for getting the fish grouped up on specific structure points where they were fishable throughout the whole season. Now it wasn’t all fishing and relax time for us lodge operators! We got several new projects completed at the lodge and outposts to make these places even more enjoyable for your stay. The list includes.. New dock system at Carroll Lake Outpost New dock system at the Main Lodge New couches and furniture at Carroll Lake Outpost New 15 HP Yamaha 4 strokes at Carroll Lake Outpost New 8’x20′ deck at Gammon river outpost (closed in screen room for 2019) As well as many other small items to say the least. Most of our outpost guests would have been greeted by Joe during their stay with the “new” 1959 Cessna 180. This aircraft is the newest addition to our operation and will help with camp checks and keeping the operation running smoothly. As the fall sets in for the cold winter months, we are busy putting together our sport show schedule. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming shows in cities near you where we will be set up. Now is the time to start thinking about the 2019 fishing season. Please don’t hesitate to contact us by phone or email with any questions regarding a trip to one of our locations. It’s a vacation of a lifetime! Thank you to all who made this season a success! Sincerely, The Wallace Lake Lodge bunch / Hnatishin family

Late May report from the camp!

Walleye and Northern action has just started to heat up in shallow water! Casting has been very successful with light tackle in 4-10 feet so far. I suspect the fish will be starting to move a bit deeper in the next couple weeks or so. Weather has been very nice but hot for the end of May. Many days have been in the 80’s and are bringing average water temperatures in all our lakes up to about 65 degrees. Wallace Lake, Craven lake and Obukowin lake are all normal water levels for this time of the year. Carroll Lake and the Gammon river and fairly low but still easily navigable to all locations and bad rocks are marked! The camps all survived the winter well and are opened and ready for a summer of fishermen! If you or anyone are looking for a trip for this season, give us a ring and we can set something up for you!
